The Pentacle Drummers from Eastbourne, East Sussex were a small group founded in 2001 to perform at the Lammas Festival to accompany the Eastbourne Giants, 'Herne the Hunter' and 'Andred', Saxon Goddess of the Weald. We have since grown from a small group to a troupe in excess of twenty.

We are delighted to be associated with the Giants and will always 'beat a path' for them at various parades and fayres. We are thrilled to continue to appear with the Giants at the Michelham Priory and Herstmonceux Medieval Festivals where we also lead the soldiers to their re-enactment battles.

The Pentacle Drummers actively support Eastbourne Bonfire Society at bonfires throughout Sussex but are happy to appear on our own or in support of other Bonfire Societies when invited!

We are always seeking new avenues where we can share our contagious, powerful, tribal-esque rhythms and entertain the masses.

In the early days we had a lot of support from Section 5, a drumming group based in Hastings. We even "borrowed" some of their tunes - with their permission of course. In recognition of this we have renamed one of the tunes that we borrowed and we now call it "Section 5 Medley" and Pentacle Drummers invite members of Section 5 to drum with us at Herstmonceux Medieval Festival every year.

The Pentacle Drummers' livery has always been green and red. Our tatter coats and face paint help lend a theatrical touch to events. Sometimes it seems that we live our 'Life in Tatters'. At the Herstmonceux and Michelham Priory Medieval Festivals we enter into the spirit of the events by adopting full medieval attire.
At bonfires we adopt a much darker look. You will recognise us by our more sombre black gothic costumes and makeup, some wicked hats and a plethora of glowsticks.

We practice hard every Thursday at:

Ethel Wood Community Centre,
Beachlands,
Pevensey Bay.

The Pentacle Drummers are a non-denominational, non-political and non-profit making group. We are simply people who like to get together drum and entertain.
